Junction City has named a new city manager following a national search to replace Allen Dinkel.

Kim Zimmerman was announced as the new manager, as he was selected from a field of 26 candidates for the post. Zimmerman will bring experience as the chief administrator of the Borough of Lewiston, Pennsylvania and previously as city manager at Ridgway, Pennsylvania. He also served more than 20 years as an active-duty logistics officer for the U.S. Army.

Dinkel retired this summer after serving nearly a decade in the Junction City post. Zimmerman is set to take over the post effective Jan. 2, 2025.
