Fort Riley was on lockdown Thursday just after noon, officials reported on social media.

Entrances to the post were closed for about 30 minutes around noon, officials said, but they had little detail about the reason for the closure.

“Law enforcement is currently working an emergency situation in the vicinity of Custer Hill,” they said in a post on Facebook. “All units and personnel in the area should initiate lockdown procedures until further notice. (Access control points) are temporarily closed at this time. Updates to follow.”

Reports said the lockdown was because of an active shooter situation on Fort Riley. Public affairs officials did not immediately have further information.

They said the schools on Fort Riley were operating as normal.
