    Cargo truck struck by railroad maintenance vehicle in Wabaunsee County crash

    An accident occurred on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:25 AM near Wabaunsee County, specifically on Buffalo Mound Road just south of Old Stone Church Road. A 2021 GMC Rockport cargo truck failed to yield at a railroad crossing and was struck by a railroad maintenance vehicle heading east. The collision caused the GMC to catch fire.

    The driver of the cargo truck, identified as 52-year-old Courtney L. Waddell of Auburn, Kansas, was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital with suspected minor injuries. He was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the accident. The vehicle was towed by Heartland Towing and Recovery.
