A structure fire in rural Geary County, thankfully, resulted in no injuries Sunday evening.

According to a Facebook post from the Geary County Rural Fire Department, firefighters were called to a structure fire at a residence around 6 p.m. Sunday in the 24 hundred block of MIlford Lake Road. The fire was contained to the hot water room in the northwest part of the residence and firefighters were able to prevent it from spreading.

The resident was able to safely exit the mobile home prior to units arriving on the scene and suffered no injuries. A dog and several cats were inside at the time of the fire, but all were fine.

Three fire units and 2 supervisor vehicles responded, as did a Junction City Fire/EMS medical unit for standby.

The cause of the fire has been ruled as accidental due to an electrical issue. No damage estimate was released.
