A Fort Riley man appeared in court Monday to enter his plea and get the trial scheduled for a case in which he faces charges of sex crimes.
Joshue Sandoval Serrano, 23, maintained he plea of innocence through his lawyer, Cole Hawver, for the charges of rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. He was arrested for the crimes in April 2024.
The state, represented by assistant Riley County attorney Christina Trocheck, states in their complaint that on Oct. 28, 2023, Sandoval Serrano engaged in sexual intercourse with a woman while she was “incapable of giving consent due to the effect of alcohol.” Prosecutors say he was aware of the woman’s condition and inability to give consent at the time.
