    More troops, including some from Fort Riley, sent to southern border

    Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, additional active-duty military members will soon deploy “to enhance Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection efforts to maintain security at the southern border,” officials said in a statement last week.

    The 19th Public Affairs Detachment from Fort Riley will provide public affairs support with visual information and media relations capabilities. The Army in January sent about 200 Fort Riley soldiers to the border as part of the 1,500 total deployed.
