The fifth-annual Aggieville Showdown brought cattle, fashion, and community together in Manhattan, Kansas, highlighting rural and urban connections through a unique livestock event in the heart of Aggieville.
A capacity crowd fills Moro Street as market beef show entrants compete during the “grand drive” of the fifth-annual Aggieville Showdown Saturday evening. Festivities started Friday evening at the Riley County Fairgrounds in CiCo Park with showmanship competitions, before continuing Saturday morning at the fairgrounds with breeding heifer and market beef shows. Aggieville: a place to eat and drink at a local restaurant, then get some shopping in. And if you’re lucky, the sighting of cattle.

The fifth-annual Aggieville Showdown was held Friday and Saturday in Manhattan. It gives exhibitors across the nation an opportunity to show off their cattle in a different environment. Christian Calliham, a K-State graduate who is the event’s founder and executive director, said in a written statement the event is an experience unlike any other by bridging the gap between rural and urban communities in a “vibrant business district.”

“This fifth anniversary is a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone involved,” he said. “Nowhere else can you find a show that merges these worlds quite like we do, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with all who have made it possible.”
