Pawnee Mental Health asked Riley County officials for an extension of its lease to 100 years to make renovations to the building on 2001 Claflin Road.

Pawnee, a non-profit community mental health center, has a 10-year lease set to expire in June 2027. Commissioners on Thursday suggested a lease extension shorter than a century.

“They’re not going to be any structural changes to the building itself,” said deputy county counselor Jacob Hansen.
