    By Cale Prater

The Westmoreland City Council took a much-anticipated step towards the construction of a new community pool at their April 10 regular meeting, passing a motion made by Ashley Rice to accept a bid put forth by Water’s Edge and Carrothers Construction Company that came in at just over $1.4 million.

During the discussion, a representative from Carrothers recommended a larger square footage for the pool than the city had originally planned for, due to a zero-entry model which the representative said would take up a great deal of “swimmable space”. Additionally, the rep noted that the proposed size of the pool house is larger than average, stating that of the 100 pools they have built, this one would have the largest bath house.
