    Area softball roundup: Wamego sweeps Free State

    In a tale of two games, Wamego softball showcased its ability to win in both phases of the diamond, sweeping Lawrence Free State with 2-0 and 15-2 wins on Monday.

    The Red Raiders (12-3) remained third in 4A East, only trailing 19-1 Eudora and 17-4 Fort Scott.

    In the 2-0 opener, Wamego’s Peyton Hardenburger added another no-hitter to her storied high school career. The Tennessee commit struck out 19 batters of the 22 she faced while walking one across seven shutout innings.
