County commissioners don’t see point in city meetings

    By Rose Gruenbacher

Riley County commissioners on Thursday said meetings with the city are pointless if county commissioners are not allowed to ask questions or participate in discussions.

Commission member John Ford said he disagrees with the structure of the joint county and city meetings, calling the current system for updates “pointless.”

“If we have something of interest or a challenge to discuss, I’m good with that, but just to talk about what’s going on … I can email certain city people and they’re usually pretty good about answering. I don’t need a 4 o’clock middle-of-the-afternoon meeting to accomplish that.” Ford said.
