Sunflower Summer returns despite budget cuts

Kansas Tourism’s Sunflower Summer offers families free admission to certain museums, zoos, attractions and nature centers in the state from July 12 to Aug. 3.

Kansas Tourism partners with a variety of attractions all over Kansas — including Riley County — for the yearly event, and features some “limited opportunities” for activities restricted to certain days of the summer. These excursions include Broadway RFD in Lindsborg, Great Plains Theatre in Abilene, Theatre in the Park in Shawnee and Wichita Wind Surge in Wichita.

This year’s Sunflower Summer will be shorter because of funding cuts from Kansas legislature. The program only covers one adult ticket per transaction, but will still allow users to transfer tickers electronically.
