Two arrested in connection with report of shots fired

A Manhattan man and Junction City woman were arrested Tuesday for multiple charges, including interference with law enforcement and unlawful discharge of a firearm. The arrests stem from an investigation into a report of shots fired on Sunday morning.

Yabdiel Manuel Fargas Rodriguez, 22, and Jazmine Laureta Smith, 20, were arrested by Riley County Police Officers in connection with the incident.

Smith was also arrested in connection with a report filed Sunday for theft. She is charged with interference with a law enforcement officer; concealing/altering/destroying evidence in felony case and theft of property or services valued less than $1,500. She was released on a $5,000 bond.

Rodriguez was arrested for interference with law a enforcement officer; knowingly fleeing felony case, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, interference with a law enforcement officer; concealing/altering/destroying evidence in a felony case, interference with a law enforcement officer; obstruction/resistance/opposition of felony warrant, unlawful discharge of firearm in city limits and disorderly conduct.

Rodriguez’s additional charges come from a report filed Tuesday in the 600 block of Fort Riley Boulevard at 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday, when he interfered with a felony arrest warrant, as well as a report filed April 5. The report resulted in a warrant for aggravated assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits and disorderly conduct.

Rodriguez was issued a total bond of $27,000 and is held in the Riley County Jail.
