    RCPD investigating $3,400 forgery, identity theft

    Riley County Police are investigating a forgery and identity theft case that left a Manhattan woman out thousands of dollars.

    Officers filed the report Tuesday evening in the 2700 block of Bent Tree Drive. Police said a 74-year-old woman reported that an unknown suspect stole a check and altered it to redirect payment. The total loss is estimated at $3,488.62.

    Authorities ask anyone with information to contact RCPD or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers allows tipsters to remain anonymous and could qualify them for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
