    Trial begins for Olathe man charged with rape

    The trial of an Olathe man charged with rape and aggravated sexual battery began Monday, with the start of jury selection.

    Kane Everett Harris, 20, was arrested on September 7, 2023 by Johnson County Sheriff’s officers. According to documents filed in Riley County District Court, he is alleged to have committed the crimes in September 2022. Both charges involve the same victim, a woman born in 2004.

    The Mercury does not report the names of victims of sexual violence.
