    Area FB roundup | Rock Creek blasts Clay Center, Council Grove sees 1st loss

    Rock Creek continued its dominant start to the season Friday, rolling to a 45-7 road win over Clay Center to improve to 5-0.

    Sophomore quarterback Tate Smith, making his first varsity start, impressed with a near-flawless performance, completing 16 of 20 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Zion Bell powered the Mustangs on the ground with 25 carries for 110 yards and three touchdowns as Rock Creek controlled the game after a 7-7 first quarter.
