    I WONDER | Why is the MHS girls’ golf team so good?

    Q: Why is the girls’ golf team at Manhattan High so good?

    A: First, let’s validate the premise. The team just won its 13th state championship, by the far the most of any athletic program at MHS. The next-closest would be boys golf, with eight, and wrestling, with six. Football has five, if you count 1943 and 1961, which both predate the playoff system.
