In a game that saw several lead changes and big momentum shifts, Kansas State could not overcome its missed opportunities and mistakes, as the Wildcats fell 35-34 to Baylor in Waco on Saturday.

K-State stormed out of halftime to grab a commanding 14-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats kept Baylor’s high-powered offense at bay through much of the game, but they couldn’t completely stop the Bears as a quick touchdown and a costly pick-6 from quarterback Avery Johnson pushed Baylor back ahead by a point, which proved to be the difference in the loss.

“W did things well enough to win, but we didn’t earn the win, and that’s why we’re walking out of here with a one-point loss and a lot of would-a, should-a, could-as,” Klieman said. “That’s the game of football. And I’m disappointed for our guys. I’m disappointed for our fan base. I know our record doesn’t speak to it. But we played more K-State football the last two weeks. I’m proud of that. I’m still pissed we lost, but I’m proud of the resolve and the resilience that we’ve shown over the last couple of weeks with our backs against the wall.”
