K-State men fall in first true road test at No. 25 Indiana

Kansas State men’s basketball saw its first true road test unravel from the start at Assembly Hall, as No. 25 Indiana led wire-to-wire in an 86–69 win on Tuesday night.

“I apologize to our fans, man, that they had to watch that,” head coach Jerome Tang said on the radio postgame. “It starts with me — I didn’t do a very good job preparing the guys for this, and I take the blame for that.”

The Wildcats (5–2) erased a rough start and hung around deep into the second half, but foul trouble in the frontcourt and a blistering Indiana attack inside the arc proved too much to overcome.

Junior guard P.J. Haggerty finished with a team-high 16 points, despite being the focus of Indiana’s defensive game plan. His streak of 20-point games to open the season ended at six on a 7-of-17 shooting night.

Guards CJ Jones (15) and Nate Johnson (13) supplemented Haggerty on offense. Elias Rapieque added a season-high 9 points and delivered timely moments that kept K-State within reach, but the early hole proved too deep to climb out of.
