Kansas State guard Abdi Bashir Jr. shoots a 3-pointer over a Bellarmine defender during their non-conference game Saturday night at Bramlage Coliseum. Bashir had 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from long distance as the Wildcats beat the Knights, 98-71.

Kansas State men’s basketball handled business in its second non-conference matchup of the season, rolling past Bellarmine 98-71 on Saturday night at Bramlage Coliseum.

The Wildcats (2-0) shot a blistering 62.3% from the field and 60.9% from beyond the arc — a continuation of the offensive rhythm that sparked Tuesday’s win over UNC Greensboro. Eleven Wildcats saw the floor, 10 scored and four reached double figures.

Junior guard P.J. Haggerty led the way with his first career points-assists double-double, finishing with 23 points and a career-best 11 assists. It marked his third career double-double and his first while running the point full-time.

“I’m just trying to get my teammates involved,” Haggerty said. “I know I can score, but finding them for easy baskets makes the game easier for everybody.”

Sophomore guard David Castillo delivered the best performance of his young career, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field (5-for-5 from three) for 19 points, becoming just the eighth Wildcat to hit five or more 3-pointers without a miss.
