Advance voting ended at noon on Monday across Kansas. While final tallies on turnout won’t be official until after the polls close on Tuesday, elections officials in both Riley and Pottawatomie County gave some insight Monday afternoon into how strong voter turnout has been so far.

During Monday’s Riley County commission meeting, County Clerk Rich Vargo said 2,189 voters had cast their ballots early by the end of Saturday. The final tally as of noon Monday, was 2,529.

Advance totals were much lower in neighboring Pottawatomie County. In an email to the Mercury, County Clerk Dawn Henry said Monday her office has received 88 mail ballots, while 61 ballots had been cast in person at the county office in Westmoreland, for a total of 149.
