Rock Creek's Nick Allen (52) brings down a Hesston player in the Mustangs' regional win on Nov. 7. The Mustangs beat Cheney 14-7 on Friday in the 3A sectional round. They'll face state power Andale next Friday for a shot at the state championship game.

FLUSH — Another step on Rock Creek’s road to a state title tour took place Friday night, as the 10-0 squad avoided another knockout attempt, this one from Cheney. Seventh-year coach Shane Sieben knows that, among other wealth of stored knowledge, as he’s accumulated 47 victories in a short time at Rock Creek. Those wins, and a 3A substate bid.
