Geary County Rural Fire department, along with mutual aid partners, responded early Monday morning to a structure fire in the 7100 block of Old Milford Road.

The call came in around 1:43 a.m. for a detached garage fire. While units were en route, dispatchers advised that the fire had spread to an adjoining shed and was threatening a nearby home and another outbuilding.

Geary County Rural Fire department responded with three engines, one tanker and two staff vehicles. Additional assistance from Junction City Fire and Fort Riley Fire was requested and arrived on scene. Crews brought the fire under control in roughly 40 minutes.

Mutual aid units were released once the fire was contained, and Geary County personnel remained on scene. No injuries were reported.

An investigator with the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office has been requested to assist the local investigation. More information is expected to be released later today.
