A Florida man was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after his pickup struck ice and collided with a semi on I-70 in Riley County.

KHP officers filed a report of an injury accident at 2:51 p.m. on Sunday, on Interstate Highway 70 just west of Dry Creek Road. Stephen Bolin, 66, of Lake Helen, Florida, was driving west on I-70 in a Toyota Tacoma when he hit a patch of ice and spun out of control. Chad Taylor, 45, of Willet, New York, was also driving west in a Peterbuilt Semi Tractor when he struck the passenger side of Bolin’s vehicle. Both vehicles came to a stop in the median.

Bolin was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Junction City for treatment of suspected minor injuries. He was arrested by KHP officers at 8:15 p.m. for charges of basic rule governing speed of vehicles, improper driving, transporting an open container and driving under the influence. He is held the Geary County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
