    Officers filed a report for burglary in the 900 block of Bertrand on Dec. 1, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m. A 21-year-old man and Torgeson Electric Co. were listed as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect took miscellaneous power tools, hand tools and clothing from a vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $2,349. Anyone with information about this crime can contact Crime Stoppers. Using Crime Stoppers allows you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

    Officers filed a report for battery on a law enforcement officer in the 1000 block of S Seth Child Road on Dec. 1 at approximately 4:46 p.m. A 38-year-old female was listed as the victim when it was reported a 41-year-old female battered her. Mahbooba Babrakzai, 41, of Manhattan, was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer. Babrakzai was issued a total bond of $15,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

    Gregory Hayes, 34, of Manhattan, was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear on Dec. 1 at approximately 2:45 p.m. This warrant stems from original charges of two counts of Domestic Battery, Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Criminal Threat, and Violation of a Protective Order. Hayes was issued a total bond of $12,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
