A Manhattan man found out the hard way this week that toys and crime don’t mix.

The Riley County Police Department responded to a report of an aggravated assault just before 2 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Fifth Street. According to an investigation, a 28-year-old woman said 30-year-old Kaelin Daniels had brandished a firearm at her that later turned out to be a toy gun.

Daniels was arrested a short time later on a charge of aggravated assault.

He remains jailed on a $5,000 bond.
