The city water serving Manhattanites’ and visitors’ favorite Aggieville bars and businesses is running through the same system that’s been in place for 116 years.
Danielle Dulin, Manhattan city manager, on Wednesday said Aggieville’s infrastructure hasn’t changed since 1910 and is now failing. The aging system is being replaced as part of the roadway construction happening in Aggieville.
“Brian (Johnson) and Randy (DeWitt) tell me every day that we don’t have a water main break on Moro Street is a good day, so we know that we have that failing infrastructure,” Dulin said. “So when we’re getting into Aggieville, and we are tearing up those streets and we are coming back through with some of those street improvements, I do want everyone to know the reason we are doing that is because of that failing infrastructure.”
