K-State men spiral late in Sunflower Showdown loss to No. 19 Kansas

Jerome Tang’s streak of beating Kansas at Bramlage Coliseum came to an end Saturday as Kansas State men’s basketball fell 86-62 to No. 19 Kansas in the Sunflower Showdown.

Things unraveled late as Kansas’ depth proved too much for a shorthanded K-State team.

“No excuses,” Tang said. “They just played harder than we did at the end. We’ve got to be more competitive in those moments, and we weren’t.”

K-State (10-10, 1-6 Big 12) was without Mobi Ikegwuruka, Elias Rapieque, Abdi Bashir Jr. and Khamari McGriff, while Kansas played without star freshman Darryn Peterson. Even with injuries on both sides, Kansas’ depth stood out.
