Kansas State has started its search for a new men’s basketball head coach following the firing of Jerome Tang on Sunday.

Here are eight names to look out for over the next several weeks as athletics director Gene Taylor begins his hunt for the 26th K-State men’s basketball coach in school history.

“One of the things that we’ll probably focus on is head coaching experience,” athletics director Gene Taylor said of the coaching search on Sunday. “What kind of program they’ve had and what kind of success they’ve had as a head coach. That doesn’t mean those will be the only candidates we look at, but that’s certainly where we’re going to start.”

Arguably the hottest mid-major name on the market, Schertz has quickly become one of the most sought-after minds in college basketball.
