OVERLAND PARK — The three-peat didn’t materialize for Manhattan High boys’ wrestling, but the standard didn’t waver.
Coming off back-to-back Class 6A state championships, the Indians finished runner-up Saturday at AdventHealth Sports Park, powered by two individual state champions and eight total medalists.
At the center of it all was a career sealed in gold.
Caeleb Hutchinson closed his Manhattan career the only way he knows how — on top. The senior captured his fourth individual state championship at 150 pounds, defeating Roman Clouse of Gardner Edgerton in the title match and becoming one of the most decorated wrestlers in state history.
Not one. Not two. Not three. Four titles.
“This has probably been the hardest season of my life dealing with injuries and all that stuff, but you know, you got to find a way,” Hutchinson said. “Shows all my hard work paid off. It was really nice to feel it was over with.”
Hutchinson said experience made a difference in his final run through state.
