President Donald Trump awarded three soldiers with the Medal of Honor on Monday, including one from Fort Riley. This marks the 39th time a Fort Riley soldier has received this military decoration.
Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Terry P. Richardson received his Medal of Honor for his actions during the Vietnam War. The former Fort Riley soldier is credited with saving the lives of 85 other service members in September 1968.
Richardson was drafted in May 1967 before deploying to Vietnam in 1968 with the 1st Infantry Division. He now lives in Cass City, Michigan.
