The trial of a Texas man facing a slew of drug distribution charges began Tuesday with jury selection in Riley County District Court.
Jose Miguel Rivera, 33, of Balch Springs, Texas, was arrested on March 23, 2025. Police released him on a $40,000 bond the same day. Rivera is charged with distribution of at least 1 kilogram of cocaine, distribution of between 100 grams and 1 kilogram of cocaine, distribution of between 100 grams and 1 kilogram of psilocybin — also known as mushrooms — and distribution of between 25 and 450 grams of marijuana. He is also charged with using a cell phone to commit, cause or facilitate the commission of distribution of controlled substances.
According to court documents, Rivera’s alleged offenses occurred between April 2023 and February 2024. The trial is scheduled to end Thursday.
