The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering has received ABET accreditation for three of the college’s undergraduate programs. The programs to receive this accreditation are biomedical engineering, cybersecurity and environmental engineering after they met the requirements necessary for accreditation which include having the inaugural class of graduates finish each program. A Manhattan woman who had been previously arrested for aggravated arson was arrested on Tuesday night. Mahboooba Babrakzai, 39, was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant just after 9:30 p.m. on failure to appear charges. The original charges stem from an aggravated arson arrest in Jul. 2022. Babrazkai was booked into Riley County Jail on a bond of $100,000. Her status of confinement is unknown at this time.

An Ogden man finds himself in hot water with law enforcement following his arrest Monday for aggravated domestic battery. Timothy Hill, 35, was arrested at 11 p.m. on Monday night in the 100 block of Tenth Street on probable cause charges of aggravated domestic battery, making a criminal threat and criminal restraint. Hill was booked into the Riley County Jail on a bond of $14,000 and was confined at the time of this report.

A Junction City man and former Fort Riley soldier who had been previously arrested and convicted for child sex crimes was arrested over the weekend for violating his probation. 23-year-old Jamichael Strahan was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation stemming from a charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Strahan has been registered as a sex offender in the state of Kansas since 2022 for those charges. A man was transported to Via Christi after he was injured in a car v. motorcycle accident on Friday afternoon in Manhattan. The accident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. at the interesection of Research Park Court and N. Manhattan Avenue when Barbara Ench, 75, of Manhattan failed to yield the right of way to Thomas Bowring, 20, of Wichita. Ench proceeded to hit Bowring’s 2003 Honda motorcycle, injuring the man. Bowring was transported to EMS to Via Christi for his injuries.
