A Junction City man was injured in an accident on Thursday on US-77. The accident occurred just after 10 a.m. on Thursday when Jeremy Hammon of Junction City was traveling northbound on US 77 near milemarker 157 on his 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Hammon was then reportedly hit by Larry Yarrow of Clay Center while traveling southbound on 77 and failed to stop at a red light while turning eastbound onto the K-57 highway. Yarrow proceeded to strike Hammon with his vehicle. Hammon was treated at the scene by Junction City Fire/EMS and declined transport to Stormont Vail.

Riley County police are looking at phone evidence to investigate a report of an Aug. 30 attack. The woman, K-State student Kenna Hibbs, told police that someone attacked her in the early-morning hours while she was walking home from Aggieville, causing severe head injuries. RCPD public information officer Ashley Tokoi said that the Aug. 30 incident is still under investigation and that police have the woman’s phone and will be sending whatever evidence they have to the lab for testing. Manhattan is a “safe community,” RCPD director Brian Peete said in a town hall addressing concerns about some recent events. Following a Sept. 3 incident in which a woman said she was attacked near Aggieville, as well as reports that a man had been walking around with firearms strapped to himself, Peete on Saturday spoke with members of the community to answer questions related to the incidents. “We want to make sure everyone takes care of each other,” Peete said. “This is a safe community, and I would walk anywhere in this county at any time of day.” More on…
A Fort Riley soldier was arrested Tuesday on a charge of involuntary manslaughter. Gage Kaiser was arrested on a Sedgwick County District Court warrant by Geary County Sheriff’s Deputies just before 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Kaiser is charged in this case with one count of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated battery. Kaiser serves on Ft. Riley and has been on the base since Jul. 2022 and is an Army Infantrymen. KMAN reached out to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office for further details on the case and have yet to hear back. Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab is requesting answers from U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy after it was reported his agency mishandled legally cast primary election ballots. A woman who said she was attacked near Aggieville last week is recovering “slowly,” her father said Friday. Police said they received a report Sept. 3 that Kenna Hibbs, a K-State student from Norwich, was found in the 800 block of Laramie Street with head injuries after walking home from Aggieville in the early morning hours. Kenna’s father, Roger Hibbs, said she was released from Stormont Vail hospital in Topeka on Sept. 3 before returning to the emergency in Wichita on Sept. 5.
