Riley County Police have arrested a man for aggravated assault using a deadly weapon. 27-year-old Jacob Shepard of Ogden was arrested in the 400 block of Fifteenth Street just before 4:30 pm for one count of aggravated assault with the use of a deadly weapon, one count of attempted aggravated battery with a locked dwelling for felony, theft, domestic violence or sex and one count of criminal damage to property without consent less than $1,000. A current member of the Pottawatomie County Planning Board is looking to join the expanded Pottawatomie County Commission. Judd McCormack is running for the newly created 4th district on the commission which encompasses St. George. He had previously served on the St. George City Commission. McCormack said he favored the expansion of the county commission when it was voted on back in 2022. “I like the idea of five people being involved,” he said. “It takes a lot more cooperation and makes the commission come to a consensus on more issues. Pawnee Mental Health announced this week that they had acquired a $20,000 grant from the Dean Coughenor Trust. The goal of the trust is to strengthen and revitalize community mental health resources. The grant will allow Pawnee to play a pivotal role in its rebranding efforts by replacing outdated signage with the goal of making it easier for people to locate Pawnee’s facilities. It will also allow for the the development of a suite of modern marketing materials including brochures, flyers and digital content.

An Ogden man remains confined in Riley County Jail following their arrests on Tuesday afternoon by Riley County Police. 35-year-old TJ Grant of Ogden was arrested just before 4:30 pm at the Riley County Police Department. He is charged with four counts of forgery, two counts for making or altering a written instrument and two counts of distributing or issuing a written instrument and two counts of making false information. Grant is currently being held on a bond of $5,000.
Sen. Jerry Moran is joining his fellow Republican Senate colleagues in introducing legislation that would require Veterans Affairs to consider continuity of care. Moran, who is the ranking member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, joined Florida Senator Marco Rubio to require the VA to consider the continuity of health care when deciding whether a provider in the community is in a veteran’s best medical interest. A Fort Riley man was arrested after turning himself into police on Monday on domestic battery charges. 25-year-old Noah Parmigiani was arrested just after 9:45 am on probable cause charges of aggravated domestic battery by choking a family member or significant other in a rude manner, one count of knowingly cause great bodily harm by harm or disfigurement and one count of criminal deprivation of property. Parmigiani was arrested at the Riley County Jail and booked before later being released on a bond of $50,000. He is the second Fort Riley soldier in the last week to be arrest for…
Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a man who allegedly stole a trailer. Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a male who used a 1997-2004 Ford F-150 extended cab truck that was used to steal a trailer back on Jul. 18 in Wamego. The trailer has since been recovered but a Stihl weed eater is still missing. The truck has a black toolbox and is missing the drivers side running board.
