Kansas Senators shared their thoughts on Monday on Boeing’s announcement they plan to purchase Wichita-based Spirit AeroSystems. Sen. Jerry Moran expressed his concern over the announcement that Boeing is planning on acquire Spirit. Geary County Emergency Management released a statement on Monday updating the status of the storm in Junction City that saw serious flooding and damage that led to the collapse of a building. In the statement, emergency manager Garry Berges reporting that in consulting with the National Weather Service in Topeka that winds got as high as anywhere from 80 to 90 miles per hour. Every year on the weekend before the 4th of July, the Randolph PRIDE event is always the town’s most attended event as the town celebrates freedom with a number of events that brings the town together and several from across the region. Two accidents occurred over the weekend across the listening area. The first accident occurred in the afternoon just before 3 pm on Friday in Riley County just west of Manhattan near the Manhattan Regional Airport at the K-18 and Scenic Drive roundabout. The accident occurred when 22-year-old George Watson of Manhattan was trying to manage the roundabout in his 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle. The driver of a 2014 Ram truck, 74-year-old Frank Rensing of Manhattan failed to yield the right of way and entered the roundabout striking Watson in what was a suspected hit and run. A Junction City man was injured following a two-car accident on I-70 on Thursday afternoon. The collision occurred just before 3 pm in the Eastbound lane of I-70 at mile marker 303. Isaac Anderson of Junction City was on the ramp at 303 attempting to turn left onto the K-18 bypass when Linda Reade of Junction City ran a stop sign heading south towards Clarks Creek in her 2023 Ford Explorer causing Anderson to collide with her in his 2012 Dodge Avenger.
