There has been a recent uptick in vehicular burglaries in Riley County and RCPD has been putting out tips to residents to try and keep their cars safe and protected from thieves. Riley County public information officer Ashley Tokoi says simple things can be done to prevent items from your vehicle being stolen. Tokoi confirmed that there have been any reports of firearms being stolen, but items like money and even an incident where a government-issued laptop were stolen. Two Ogden residents were arrested on Tuesday afternoon for criminal trespassing along with a slew of other charges. 35-year-old TJ Grant of Ogden was arrested just before 11:30 am in the 100 block of Eighth Street in Ogden and was charged with one count of criminal trespassing, two counts of failure to appear, one count of aggravated battery, one count of violating a protection order and one count of interference with a law enforcement officer. Geary County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Council Grove man on a slew charges late Tuesday afternoon. 42-year-old Jason Oder was arrested in the westbound lane of I-70 just before 5:00 pm. Oder is charged with single counts for theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and criminal damage to property. Oder was also charged with failure to appear in Saline County District Court. Oder has a lengthy criminal record according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. He has been arrested over a dozen times for a slew of crimes such as theft, possession of drugs and obstructing justice. Oder is still…

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office and the Wamego Police Department conducted a search warrant early on Tuesday that resulted in the arrest of 4 individuals. The search warrant was executed in the 1000 block of 10th Street in Wamego as the result of an investigation into illegal drug activity. Officers were able to seize drug paraphernalia and firearms at the scene of the crime. 42-year-old Michael Llamas, 41-year-old Tara Couture, 41-year-old Michael Grant and 41-year-old Brandy Mahkuk all of Wamego are charged with a slew of charges, primarily possession with intent to distribute. The Kansas House has approved the tax bill and it will now be sent to the Governor’s desk for a final signature. With a final vote of 121-2, the legislation now heads to Gov. Kelly’s desk after nearly two years of debate. The bill also saw near unanimous support in the Senate passing by a vote of 34-4. The state of Kansas has filed a lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company Pfizer accusing the company of “misrepresenting” its COVID-19 vaccine as “safe” even though it “knew” the vaccine was connected to “adverse side effects.” The 69-page lawsuit which was filed in the District Court of Thomas County accuses Pfizer of “misleading the public with its COVID-19 vaccine.” The lawsuit also accuses the company’s “actions and statements related to the vaccine” violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act. Following the news that Caterpillar would be leaving Wamego, owners of the manufacturing company Dymax announced late Monday that they will be staying in Wamego. Riley County will see a nearly 6% increase in the 2025 police budget. The Riley County Law Enforcement Agency Board on Monday unanimously approved a $28.5 million budget for next fiscal year, a 5.88% increase from last year that includes a 3.8% cost-of-living adjustment for employees. Board member John Matta said the increase also included a carryover from last year’s funds. The law board published the $28.5 million budget by a 4-2 vote last month after it requested that Riley County Police Department officials bring down their original proposed budget of $28.9 million so that the increase stayed below 6%.…
