By Rose Gruenbacher A Manhattan man’s attorney made a motion to withdraw from his client’s case Wednesday, in order for a motion to withdraw his client’s guilty plea be heard. Nathaniel Brock Williamson, 19, was arrested by Riley County Police Officers on Feb. 27, 2023 and charged with one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child. By Emma Loura After initially proposing a 2026 budget increase which would raise property taxes by 17% for the average homeowner, Riley County officials on Monday lowered the proposed increase to 13%. Commissioners on Monday held their second budget work session, proposing a mill rate of 40.874, an increase from last year’s 37.953 mills. A mill is $1 in tax for every $1,000 in assessed, taxable property value. Under this proposed rate, the owner of a $100,000 property who paid $436.42 in 2025 would pay $493.55 on a home now valued at $105,000 in 2026, based on an average increase…

By Emma Loura Manhattan High School athletics received a technical upgrade with the installation of a video board and a new sound system at Bishop Stadium. A California man was arrested Saturday for charges including kidnapping, stalking and criminal threat. Riley County Police officers filed a report at 2:51 p.m. on Saturday and listed a 34-year-old woman as the victim. Ivan Krdzic, 36, of Santa Rosa, was arrested for kidnapping and inflicting bodily harm or terrorizing the victim, domestic battery, criminal deprivation of property, stalking, harassment by phone and criminal threat. Krdzic was issued a bond of $350,000 and is held in the Riley County Jail at this time.
