Riley County Police say a 36-year-old woman lost her diamond ring over the weekend at a Manhattan restaurant. According to an investigation, the woman reportedly lost the ring in the Longhorn Steakhouse parking lot sometime around 4 p.m. Sunday. Police say a separate party reported seeing an unknown woman pick it up before walking into the restaurant. The estimated total loss is about $3,000. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.

Police are investigating over $500 worth of theft reported at the Manhattan Target store over the weekend. The Riley County Police Department says the retailer reported an unknown woman stole multiple clothing items and Blu-ray discs by hiding them in a personal bag while in a dressing room before walking out of the store. The incident was reported Friday evening. The estimated total loss was approximately $515. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.

The Riley County Law Board will formally adopt the Riley County Police Department’s 2024 budget during Tuesday’s meeting. Last month, the board approved for publication RCPD’s 26.9 million dollar budget request, a nearly 2 million dollar increase from last year’s approved budget. RCPD initially requested, back in April, a 27.2 million dollar budget which included the implementation of 50% of their remaining salary survey and an 8% cost of living adjustment (COLA). RCPD said both increases were needed to remain competitive in the job market. The department returned last month with a 6.5% COLA, receiving approval in a 5-2 vote.…

Manhattan Regional Airport is reaching the end of phase 3 of its runway project. The airport shutdown completely May 12th to initiate that phase. Airport Director Brandon Keazer shared with the Airport Advisory Board June 12 that the paving of the runway intersection is almost complete. Keazer says phase 3 is estimated to be completed by July 19 and phase 4 will begin immediately afterward. The Manhattan Regional Airport is scheduled to reopen at the beginning of September.
