Now that a number of construction projects at Fort Riley are wrapping up, the base is updating its access control point hours. The Trooper access control point is resuming 24/7 hours of operation while Grant access control point is shifting to limited hours. Grant access point will now be open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday except on federal holidays. Additionally, there are three other 24/7 access control points. OLATHE — Court records say a man accused in a suburban Kansas City hit-and-run crash that left two people dead had been speeding and “jockeying back and forth” with one of the victim’s vehicles beforehand. The Kansas City Star reports that prosecutors released the affidavit Thursday in the case against 45-year-old Bradley Woodworth, of Olathe. He is charged with leaving the scene of the Oct. 6 wreck that killed 18-year-old Matthew Bloskey and 20-year-old Samuel Siebuhr. TOPEKA — Kansas’ new Democratic governor-elect says she will look to block enforcement of a new adoption law that she and LGBT-rights activists consider discriminatory. That would be a sharp break with the state’s two previous conservative Republican governors. MOSCOW — Authorities say they have arrested a man after a 2-year-old boy died in southwest Kansas. The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Kansas Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday for assistance in a death that occurred in Moscow. The KBI reports sheriff’s deputies who were called to a home Tuesday afternoon to investigate the welfare of a child at a Moscow home. They discovered a male child, Mikhail Lahey Jr., dead in the home. After questioning, the homeowner was questioned and was later booked into the Stevens County jail for first-degree murder. TOPEKA — A 21-year-old Topeka driver who hit a pedestrian and dragged her under an SUV, was sentenced to more than 14 years in prison for a hit-and-run that killed another woman. Alexia Nolte was sentenced Wednesday for second-degree murder, aggravated assault and failure to stop at an accident. Nolte struck 25-year-old Robin Kuebler on April 3 in Topeka. Kuebler died at the scene. WIBW reported that Nolte received the highest sentences possible for each conviction. Before the convictions, Nolte didn’t have a criminal history.
