KANSAS CITY — Authorities say a handcuffed man who managed to escape from Kansas City, Kansas, officers was still wearing the handcuffs when he was arrested four days later. The Kansas City Star reports that the 42-year-old man was wanted for outstanding warrants when officers first apprehended him Wednesday night. Kansas City, Kansas, Police spokesman Officer T.J. The person chosen to be the next director of the Riley County Police Department has withdrawn his candidacy, according to a release. They did not reveal which candidate was that chosen finalist. The Riley County Law Board will discuss their next steps at their meeting scheduled for Monday at noon. The meeting will be held at the VFW building in Randolph. Update 10:20 a.m. 10/18/18 Following an autopsy on Monday, RCPD officials confirm that the remains found in Ogden on Saturday were those of Ashley Meiss. Her family has been notified by police. Additionally, the release stated that the autopsy “showed no indication of foul play” in Meiss’ death. As is standard procedure, a copy of the investigation will be sent to the county attorney. KANSAS CITY — A lawsuit alleges that a man from Kansas City, Kansas, who spent 23 years in prison for a double murder he didn’t commit was targeted because his mother rebuffed a homicide detective’s sexual advances. Forty-two-year-old Lamonte McIntyre and his mother, 64-year-old Rose Lee McIntyre, sued Thursday in federal court. Lamonte McIntyre was freed last year . OLATHE — Authorities say a small alligator has been found under a vehicle in suburban Kansas City. Police in Olathe, Kansas, say in a Facebook post that an animal control officer captured the gator earlier this week. The post says it’s “Something you don’t expect to see in Kansas.” The gator is spending the week in a shelter before heading to a reptile rescue in Manhattan next week.
