Daniel Nettles, 22, of St. Louis, Missouri, was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department on January 19, 2017 at approximately 8:10 PM. Nettles was arrested on 2 Riley County District Court warrants for probation violation. Nettles’ total bond was set at $6,500.00, causing him to remain confined at the time of this report. Noah Dallier, 20, of Manhattan, was arrested in the 1000 block of Leavenworth St. on January 19, 2017 at approximately 9:55 PM. Kansas Department of Transportation Officials indicate if all goes well the K-18 Bridge over US-77 will be demolished Friday evening sometime after 8 pm.  The time was selected to coincide with minimal traffic flow on US-77. On Monday Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s deputies as well as Riley County Police officers responded to Wal-Mart in Manhattan, Pottawatomie County. The victim in this matter reported that a male individual had made a transaction at the business using what was believed to be counterfeit $100 bills. Responding officers were able to locate the suspect near the business. The suspect, 38-year old Jack William Landis, was taken into custody.  Landis, who was unable to provide a place of residence, was taken into custody for theft by deception and making a false writing. TOPEKA — Federal officials have found that problems with Kansas’ privatized Medicaid program are putting recipients at risk. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services conducted on-site review in October of the program, known as KanCare. The program had the state enter into large contracts with several companies to provide managed care. Reviewers found that limited coordination between state agencies poses a risk to the health and safety of some participants. They also determined that Kansas didn’t provide sufficient oversight of the managed care organizations. Federal officials are denying a request to extend the program…

Updated Friday morning: The charges against a 22 year old man have been upgraded, with the Riley County Attorney formerly charging John Gaver with nine counts of criminal sodomy. As KMAN first reported early Thursday, Garver faces several sex related crime charges after his arrest Wednesday evening.. Thursday’s Riley County Police activity report released later Thursday morning indicated Gaver was taken into custody Wednesday on 6 counts of criminal sodomy with a child and 4 counts of indecent solicitation of a child.
