WICHITA — Authorities say a shooting at a Wichita bar has left one person dead and another wounded. Police said in a news release that the shooting happened early Sunday. Arriving officers heard multiple gunshots and arrested a 36-year-old man who was spotted running from the club. The release says a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her arm. Fort Riley bid farewell to its outgoing commanding general with a Change of Command ceremony on post Friday. Before the ceremony began, KMAN caught up with outgoing commanding general Maj.Gen. ANDOVER — Andover police say the boyfriend of a woman who died nearly two years ago is now charged in her killing. Police announced Friday in a news release that 52-year-old Roger Smith is charged with second-degree murder in the August 2016 death of 40-year-old Sandra Berry. KAKE-TV reports Berry was found dead in her Andover apartment with a deep wound to her throat. Smith was Berry’s boyfriend when she died. He was questioned but released at the time. Fort Riley warns of loud noise stemming from a training exercise on select days between June 7 and June 19. Residents are told to expect small arm fire, artillery as well as demolitions. The exercise known as Gauntlet is part of the 1st Infantry Division commander’s Combat Training Center certification program. LAWRENCE — The Kansas Court of Appeals says a citizen grand jury should be convened to investigate whether Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach intentionally failed to register voters who had tried unsuccessfully to register to vote through the state’s online system. Friday’s ruling concerns a petition first filed in 2016 by Steven House, a current Democratic candidate for the Kansas House.
