The 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, will host a change of command ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday at the post’s Cavalry Parade Field. Col. John M. Cyrulik will relinquish command to Col. Chris Black after two years in command of the “Demon” brigade. Cyrulik is slated to become the commandant at Citadel Military College in Charleston, South Carolina. Black comes from Duke University where he served as a fellow in National Security, Strategy and Policy. Brig. Gen. Patrick D. Frank, the departing 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley acting senior commander, will preside over the ceremony.

TOPEKA — Kansas health officials have reported a confirmed case of measles in Butler County. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Butler County Health Department said in a joint news release Tuesday that a number of county health departments will be notifying all identified contacts. Staff will evaluate immunization status and ask about any possible symptoms among people exposed. Measles is highly contagious and is spread through the air by breathing, coughing or sneezing. A construction project on Denison Avenue between Claflin Road and Anderson Avenue enters a new phase on Thursday. Platt Street will be closed at Denison Avenue beginning July 6. Access to Kansas State University’s Lot A28 north of the Engineering Building will be via Denison Avenue and College Heights Road. The portion of Denison Avenue between College Heights Road and Platt Street will be narrow two-way traffic due to the work zone on the west side of the southbound lane. Kansas exceeded predictions for total taxes as well as actual collection totals over last fiscal year, according to data from the June revenue report released Monday. Kansas collected $5.82 billion from all tax sources in Fiscal Year 2017. In comparison, the state collected $5.76 billion in taxes Fiscal Year 2016, which amounts to a $58.58 million difference fiscal year over fiscal year. Revised estimates predicted the state would bring in $5.74 billion in Fiscal Year 2017. WICHITA — An atheist group is raising questions about prayers at high school basketball games in Western Kansas, but school officials are defending their practices. The Wichita Eagle reports the Freedom From Religion Foundation sent letters to the Cheylin and Weskan school districts complaining about basketball players praying after games in January with coaches participating. Weskan Superintendent Dave Hale says the coaches did not lead the prayer. It was student driven, but he will make sure his coaches are not in the area in the future. A Manhattan woman who lost her life after a fatal collision Saturday afternoon has been identified. The Riley County Police Department named Gayla Fief, 53, as the deceased Sunday. Officers with the RCPD were dispatched to the intersection of Seth Child Road and Tuttle Creek Boulevard Saturday at approximately 12:13 p.m. for a report of an injury accident involving two vehicles. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach says his state will not be giving the federal voter fraud commission he leads the partial Social Security numbers that he has asked other states to provide from their voter rolls. Kobach as vice chairman of the commission has sent letters to every state requesting names, addresses, party, voting history and the last four digits of their Social Security numbers.
