HOLTON — Another woman has testified against a northeast Kansas man who is facing a string of sexual assault allegations that have divided his tight-knit hometown. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that the woman told jurors Thursday that 22-year-old Jacob Ewing, of Holton, sodomized her and forced her to perform oral sex after a September 2014 party. She is among five women the former state football champion is charged with sexually assaulting. She said things became “blurry” after she drank two beers and a shot. TOPEKA — A former Kansas Highway Patrol trooper has been indicted on a charge alleging that he used excessive force. Federal grand jurors in Topeka returned the indictment Wednesday in the case against 43-year-old James Carson, of Independence, Kansas. The indictment says Carson “physically assaulted” and caused “bodily injury” to a person identified with the initials R.T. It says the alleged June 2013 incident in southeast Kansas’ Labette County deprived R.T. of the civil right of due process. USD 383 students who participated in the fourth annual Summer STEM Institute will be showing off what they learned Friday morning at the K-State Student Union Ballroom from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The learning workshop was held June 5 through 29. Geary county Sheriff’s department responded to an injury accident on Wednesday July 28th. Deputies were dispatched to Interstate 70 milemarker 310 westbound for an injury accident. Roger Ambrosier was driving his 2013 Toyota Avalon when he fell asleep and drove into the median causing damage to the rear of the vehicle. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office arrested a rural Westmoreland man  on drug charges as the result of a Tuesday morning search warrant. 38-year-old Billy Creed Goodman was booked on multiple charges including possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of felony drug paraphernalia, criminal use of firearms, aggravated child endangerment, and no drug tax stamp for marijuana or controlled substance.  Goodman is currently at the Pottawatomie County Jail, with bond set at $250,000. The Republican healthcare plan that has stalled in the Senate could have a negative affect on school districts. USD 383 Assistant Superintendent Eric Reid told KMAN during an appearance on In Focus Wednesday that Medicaid restrictions in the bill could increase expenditures for the district. “Right now, we’re able to get some reimbursement for costs of services for speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy,” Reid said. “So we can basically count some of the hours that our staff provide in services that our students need.” Reid said Medicaid reimbursements for services amounted to $800,000 this past school year.
