Updated 5:30 a.m. Wednesday: As reported Tuesday afternoon by KMAN, two people were injured in an accident in the 5500 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard at South Dam Road.  Katherine Wilson, 20, and Brandon Galloway, 24, both of Manhattan were injured in the accident reported at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday. The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates Wilson was driving a 2003 Chrysler P-T Cruiser westbound on U-S 24, with a ’95 Chevrolet 1500 driven by Billie Anderson, 54, of Wamego eastbound on 24. WICHITA — A Kansas chemical manufacturing has been fined $1 million after admitting it unlawfully dumped hazardous wastes down a saltwater disposal well. JACAM Manufacturing LLC of Sterling, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Wichita to one count of violating the federal Safe Water Drinking Act and one count of violating the Resource Conservation Recovery Act. Its president, Jason West, entered the plea on his company’s behalf under a deal with prosecutors that spared shareholders, employees and contractors from charges. A February preliminary hearing is set in Geary County Court for a man facing charges of aggravated indecent liberties and sexual exploitation of a child. Richard Tilton was arrested in September , with manufacturing child pornography also reportedly involved in the multi-jurisdictional investigation involving at least four counties. Tilton’s preliminary is set for February 26th, following Tuesday’s status hearing.

On Monday, December 22, 2015 the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential burglary just North of the intersection of Genn Road and Old Post Road, rural Wamego.  Upon arrival Sheriff Deputies discovered that the residence at this location appeared to have been burglarized.  The suspect or suspects in this incident forced entry into the home and removed Christmas presents and jewelry.  The victims believed the crime occurred between Sunday, December 20th after 5:00 p.m. and before 3:30 p.m. on December 21st.  Damage to the residence and loss from theft may exceed 1000 dollars. SHAWNEE, Kan. (AP) Health regulators say one person who ate at a Chipotle restaurant in Kansas became ill in a new, late November E. coli outbreak that sickened five people in three states. Kansas Department of Health and Environment spokeswoman Sara Belfry said Monday the person ate at Chiptole’s Shawnee Mission Parkway location the week of Nov. 23. No other details were released. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) A carbon monoxide leak inside a Lawrence gym has sent two people to the hospital. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that emergency responders were called to Genesis Health Club around 7 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters discovered the leak in the gym’s pool area. Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Marshal Jim King says two people exposed to the gas were taken to a local hospital. Further information on their conditions wasn’t immediately available.
