A Manhattan man died in an accident just before 10p.m. Sunday in Cloud County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Ford van driven by Marco Lopez, 47, Kansas City, Missouri, was westbound on U.S. 24 and struck a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle driven by James Ray Dille, 63, Manhattan. Dille was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Lopez and two passengers in the van were not injured. Dille was not wearing a helmet, according to the KHP.

The wheat harvest across the state is about 30% complete, according to officials from the Kansas Wheat Commission. This time last year saw only 6% harvest completion, while the average for the week ending June 16 is 8% complete. Temperatures are expected to touch the mid-to-upper 90s over the weekend, with highs of 96 on Saturday and 94 on Sunday in Manhattan.
