John Adam, the city’s assistant director of planning, presented county commissioners the city’s intention to rezone parks to public institutional districts. However, because CiCo Park is split between the city, the county and the USD 383 Manhattan-Ogden school district, city staffers need approval to rezone parts of CiCo Park the city doesn’t own. A house in a southwest Manhattan neighborhood sustained more than $400,000 in damage after a fire on Friday. The two-story home at 4517 Lamonte Drive showed heavy fire from the rear when 16 Manhattan Fire Department firefighters on six trucks arrived after receiving the report of a structure fire shortly before noon. Officers are investigating the theft of a motorcycle that occurred overnight in the 400 block of Manhattan Avenue. A report was filed on October 18, 2024, at approximately 2:59 PM. The victim, a 28-year-old man, reported that his 2017 Suzuki motorcycle was stolen by an unknown individual during the night. The motorcycle is valued at an estimated $6,500. Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident that sent a man to the hospital in Riley County on Sunday night. According to the Riley County Police Department activity report, the incident occurred just after 9 p.m. in the 900 block of N. 10th Street. A white pickup truck, driven by a woman, struck a 28-year-old male pedestrian identified as Renson Remigio Hernandez and then left the scene. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

One man is dead, and another is in jail after a shooting Saturday in the southeast part of Manhattan, according to Riley County Police Department officials. RCPD officers found 58-year-old Don Stovall, later pronounced deceased, after receiving the report of a shooting in the 700 block of North Fourth Street at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers arrested 20-year-old Aiden Keener with probable cause after executing a search warrant in the 3600 block of Saddlehorn Trail in Ogden early Sunday morning as part of their investigation.
