The Riley County Fire Department responded to two grass fires Friday afternoon. One burned about 60 acres along Fairview Church Road and a smaller, 15-20 acre fire burned near Top of the World Drive. According to Fire Chief, Pat Collins, two more fires blazed Friday evening as one consumed about 400 acres in the Swede Creek area, while another burned near near Baldwin Park Road. The fires did not cause significant damage, however one firefighter was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center with minor injuries.
