The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has been working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to investigate an outbreak of listeriosis cases in five adult Kansas residents linked to ice cream consumed from Blue Bell Creameries. Listeriosis is a serious infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. The volcano erupted three times Thursday and state observers recorded a smaller eruption Friday morning. Traci Lawrence, 38, was found at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of 14th Street. A news release Friday afternoon says the preliminary results of the autopsy examination of Lawrence’s body indicates there was no foul play associated with her death. Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks. Several presentations shared during Thursday’s Riley County Commission meeting were in reference to budget funds. Budget and Finance Officer, Johnette Shepek provided some preliminary end-of-year figures for last year. Shepek began by mentioning where the 2014 general fund cash balance started: a little over 5.1 million dollars. After adding all the revenues in and subtracting expenditures, the final un-audited ending cash balance was $5,321,344. The suspect in an early Tuesday morning fatal shooting in Ogden has been apprehended. Riley County Police announced Thursday afternoon Tierre Wall, 26, of Fort Riley turned himself in to the McDonough, Georgia Law Enforcement Center. The Tuesday morning shooting ended up taking the life of Casey Lindley, 27, of Ogden. Detectives named a suspect in the death investigation and on Wednesday announced to the public that assistance was needed in locating Tierre Wall. The Riley County Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Wall earlier that day listing the offense of voluntary manslaughter with a bond of $150,000.00. The…
